The Caltech Campus Toastmasters Club and the CDC invite all grad
students and post-docs to a special meeting devoted to practising
elevator speeches. Elevator speech is a very short commercial that
job-seekers use in a variety of situations (career fairs, networking
events, job interviews) that succinctly tells the person you are giving
it to who you are, what makes you unique, and the benefits you can
provide. Every speech will be evaluated, and a small lunch will also be
provided. Those who plan to participate on the up-coming 9th Annual
Ph.D./Postdoc Career Conference are especially encouraged to come. This
meeting will be held at:
September 5, 2007
Building Keck, Room 142
12 - 1pm
Due to space limitations registration is required. There are only 25
slots for elevator speeches. Viewers are also welcome, but need to register as well.
All people interested in attending should send an email to
tsay at caltech dot edu
with the subject heading "RSVP: Toastmasters Elevator Speeches". Please include contact details,
whether you will give an elevator speech, and whether you will
participate in the Ph.D./Postdoc Career Conference.
A confirmation email will be sent. All speakers will receive detailed
information about how to give an elevator speech in advance.
Registration closes August 31.
